“...Mom?” The worry had returned, but was now mixed with something altogether different. The confusion was clear on Lee's face, as he broke his eyes away from the sight to reach for a light switch next to the door. Renée did not react in the slightest to the sudden illumination of the room, and as Lee took a closer look, he realized that she appeared to be almost frozen mid-movement. Her clothes, a light gray blouse that was slightly oversized for her and a blue skirt that likewise did little to draw attention to her legs, were piled neatly on the bed.
