“Alright,” Zach shrugged, carefully reaching inside and pressing the button. Instantly, everything inside came to life in a flurry of electronic whirs, beeps, and hums. A status monitor lit up on the array, lines of text scrolling down the screen at high speed as her systems booted up.
2B continues to check her emails. But she happens upon a bit of an odd one. The subject line is just ones and zeros. She expands the email to find it empty save for a single attachment. Not having the common sense to ignore things like this, 2B’s simple robotic mind happily downloads the file and waits for it to load. The files find themselves right within her primary recent folder. Right in her central internal Solid State Drive. Her program then launches it to investigate its contents. And something happens. The smallest short circuit interrupts her system. A little electrical current runs through the interlocking wires that make up her body. Dashing from part to part. Hitting her central processing system, her RAM, her storage, her motherboards, all of it. It clicks suddenly, and she slumps in her chair ever so slightly. Not enough to fall, so no one notices. She just lays there.


Nearly a few minutes later, the lines of text slowed down and displayed simple stats, such as the CPU temperature and speed, and current power readings. Then, a light lit up near what looked like a speaker on the CPU array and then Sherry’s voice emitted from it.


“Testing…testing…testing…Somatronics 9000 unit systems check complete,” Sherry’s voice said in an emotionless tone, “Previous system damage repaired…hardware damage repaired…searching for remote storage…remote storage discovered,” she reported.
Ten minutes pass. Her body was completely still that entire time. Mysterious things slowly creep inside of her code. Eventually something moves. Her finger twitches once. The smallest little action. Then nothing for a little while longer. Now two fingers move. The same little jitter, and only for a moment. Then the same thing happens on her other hand. Her fingers move on their hinges. First the very tip of her pointer moves up, then down. Then the second segment. Finally, the whole finger moves using the hinge on the knuckle.
 
It was at this time Zach noted the flashes of blue coming from the other room started increasing in speed and duration, indicating that Sherrybot was accessing Sherry’s brain.
 
“Internal storage discovered,” she continued on, “Starting A.I. Sherry with special configuration,” she finished, then a low beep emitted from the speaker before Sherry spoke once more.
 
“Ah, I seem unable to access my arms, legs, or head…and I’m detecting my primary access port is open,” Sherry said, “Did I malfunction Mandy?”
 
Despite her voice sounding digital, Zach still felt his heart flutter at hearing her voice again.
 
“Yes mom, but I managed to fix you,” Mandy said.
 
“Ah, I see now…my short term memories appear a bit hazy at the moment,” she apologized, “You’re the best daughter a robot mom could ask for,” she then added.

2B continues to check her emails. But she happens upon a bit of an odd one. The subject line is just ones and zeros. She expands the email to find it empty save for a single attachment. Not having the common sense to ignore things like this, 2B’s simple robotic mind happily downloads the file and waits for it to load. The files find themselves right within her primary recent folder. Right in her central internal Solid State Drive. Her program then launches it to investigate its contents. And something happens. The smallest short circuit interrupts her system. A little electrical current runs through the interlocking wires that make up her body. Dashing from part to part. Hitting her central processing system, her RAM, her storage, her motherboards, all of it. It clicks suddenly, and she slumps in her chair ever so slightly. Not enough to fall, so no one notices.
