Once state-of-the-art, Jenna's AX-6 body was now practically an antique, kept operating only by her tape and solder repairs, refurbished parts and extensive daily maintenance. She had long since abandoned most of her synthetic skin panels in favor of quick access and she never traveled without a tool kit. She and her friends had learnt to fix most of her recurrent faults but a recent rainstorm had finally persuaded her to seek professional help.

Another 'bot recommended the back-street robot shop where she had allowed herself to be prodded and examined and her bag full of spares rummaged through before finally agreeing a quote for a weeks' work she could barely afford, hardware repairs agreed, the technician pulled out a stack of AX series software…

"Hey - no reprogramming! I just want you to fix my body, okay?"

"You sure? Personalities have come on a long way. You still running bundled AI?"

"Im sure, thanks, I… I… I… - shit!" Jenna twitched as a motor regulator maxed out as it often did when she got worked up.

She fumbled hastily under her shirt for the offending component but her jittering fingers were too clumsy amongst the delicate jury-rigged systems. There was a small pop and a wisp of acrid smoke. "Shi-", with a slight tilt of the head the pretty ax-6 robot girl froze where she stood.

The tech sighed and fetched a trolley from the back room onto which he carefully tipped Jenna's rigid body to lie gazing blankly upwards. He forced her arms to her sides against their binding motors and dumped the big bag of batteries and flesh panels on top of her. This would be some project!
